iTEP Receives Official Recognition from Costa Rica’s Ministry of Education

We are thrilled to announce that the iTEP Academic Plus and iTEP Slate Plus tests have received official approval from the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica (MEP). This pivotal decision, formalized on May 22, 2025, through an official circular issued by the Ministry, lists both iTEP exams among the recognized language proficiency assessments.

The iTEP Slate Plus is specifically designed for middle and high school students, while the iTEP Academic Plus is tailored for college-level and university-bound individuals. Both exams comprehensively assess core English language skills—reading, listening, speaking, and writing—making them ideal for admissions, placement, and exit exams within educational institutions. With this new approval, these tests are now fully accepted as valid tools for students to meet the English language requirement necessary to obtain the High School Diploma in Secondary Education in Costa Rica.

This recognition marks a significant milestone, greatly expanding the presence and bolstering the credibility of the iTEP exams throughout the region, especially within the academic sector.
