Recent Trump administration actions—including halting new student visa interviews, increasing scrutiny on international applicants, and moving to defund federal English learner programs—threaten the foundation of international education and workforce development. These policies create uncertainty for students, disrupt institutional planning, and risk undermining America’s global competitiveness by discouraging talented individuals from contributing to our campuses, companies, and communities.

We stand in strong opposition to these measures. At iTEP, we are actively advocating for the value of international exchange and English language study, emphasizing that welcoming global talent is essential for innovation, economic growth, and cross-cultural understanding. The benefits of English language proficiency and international mobility extend far beyond individual achievement—they enrich classrooms, drive research, and strengthen organizations worldwide.  We see this every day, as you do with your own community.
