SLATE Purpose

SLATE (Secondary Level Assessment Test of English) is used to assess the English language proficiency of high school age students, or younger, for the following purposes:

• Admission to English speaking high schools or academies
• Placement of students in the appropriate levels
  
• Guidance for course and curriculum development
  
• Pre and post language course evaluation
• Eligibility determination for exchange programs
